Tactics: the how-to’s, the answer to “what button do I push?”, tasks listed in numerical order.
Strategies: why you pushed the button, when you do task 1-5, the why-to for your how-to.
I talk a lot about strategy around here. I don’t talk much about tactics, primarily because I used to do corporate training. Corporate Training was mostly about what button to push. I made lots of manuals with pretty pictures of what button to push. Since there is still a need out there for tactical info, I’m starting a monthly event: Tactical Tuesday. Starting today.
For the inaugural event, I’d like to share some fantastic resources to help you implement your strategies.
LaVonne Ellis, customerlover extraordinaire, put together an excellent how-to series on getting your shit together- your blog shit, that is. Think of it as summer camp for your blog.
This post will explain in detail how to add a page in wordpress.
Go here to learn how to install a theme.
If you want to host you own blog (if you don’t want to use blogspot or wordpress.com, but your own domain name) check out this post for the deets on making it happen.
The Boston Internet Marketing Meetup is beta testing a course to teach you how to write an ebook. If you live inside 495, check it out. Seriously. I don’t often recommend going out of your way for a meetup, but this one sparked a lot of juiciness and rockin’ networking. If you are outside the Greater Boston Area, the course materials will be available online. Module 1 is posted now. Get on this bandwagon while its in beta. The next offering will cost ya.
This next resource isn’t available yet, but it is in production. Amanda Aitken of Better then Chocolate is putting together a product to answer your burning design how-to questions. Fonts? Colors? Spacing? Yup, those burning questions. Check the Better then Chocolate Facebook page for insights. I’m itching for this product to be released.
What kind of tactical questions do you have for next month? I’d love to hear from you in the comments or on Facebook.
